Don’t worry, you will get to ride up grades – lots of them – into the bargain. You will likely also get to meet funny and simpatico fellow riders, eat fabulous meals in pretty spots, and be pampered in all of the best – but none of the worst – ways.
Most importantly, you will find yourself immersed in a sweet-smelling land where roads are narrow and cars are few, where imposing cliffs contrast with ripe cherries hanging from low branches, and where after every 30km a cafe chair in a cheerful medieval village is likely to be found waiting for your grateful saddle-sore butt.
