After 6 days of fantastic riding in the Pyrenees, we met up with 44-5 for their Provence Breakaway 3-day. Because the riding in Spain was so great, we were wondering how the riding in Provence would measure up. All three rides were great and two were really off the charts.

The routes were insanely scenic–through rolling vineyards, iconic towns like Gordes, Menerbes and Roussillon, slicing along the base of cliffs that soared above the road. If you’re lucky enough to catch that Provence light the impressionists made famous, it’s a powerful, unforgettable experience.

John and Gerry are consummate pros, great guides, route curators and fun to ride with. All three days were 35-40 miles and 3000 feet of climbing but they have a huge range of routes they can tailor to whatever you’re looking for. Two years ago, we took a self-guided bike tour of Provence and it was a much different experience.

The routes were designed to take us from town to town and a fair amount of the riding was uninspired. Riding these well-chosen routes with 44-5 was a vastly more enjoyable experience. We’ll be back.
